Since 1st January 2007 Liberal Democrats in Basildon, Billericay and Thurrock have come together in one Local Party, covering three constituencies with branches established in each constituency area. The change reflects alterations to the parliamentary constituency boundaries brought about by the Boundaries Commission in readiness for the next general election.
The Lib Dem party team shares responsibilities amongst members from each area: Nigel Horn (Billericay) chairs the local party with Pete Saunders, chairman, from Thurrock,and Phil Jenkins, treasurer, from the "new" Basildon and Billericay Constituency. Local Party secretary is long-standing Basildon councillor Geoff Williams, in the new constituency of South Basildon and East Thurrock, and Membership Secretary John Livermore from Thurrock.
Basildon and Billericay consists of the following Basildon District Wards: Billericay East, Billericay West, Burstead, Crouch, Fryerns, Laindon Park, Lee Chapel North, St Martin's.
South Basildon and East Thurrock Constituency comprises five wards of the District of Basildon:- Langdon Hills, Nethermayne, Pitsea North West, Pitsea South East, Vange; and six wards of the Borough of Thurrock:- Corringham and Fobbing, East Tilbury, Orsett, Stanford East and Corringham Town, Stanford-le-Hope West, The Homesteads.
Thurrock Constituency area is unchanged.
